Before Ramadan 2026.. Dina El-Sherbiny and Asr Yassin at El Gouna Film Festival

Stars Dina El-Sherbiny and Asser Yassin made their first appearance together on the second day of the 8th El Gouna Film Festival, attending the "Cinematheque" event organized by Gemini Africa. They had both missed the opening ceremony last Thursday evening.

The duo is working on their first artistic collaboration in the series "Etnein Ghayrena," scheduled to air during the Ramadan 2026 drama season. The series is written by Yasser Taher, directed by Khaled El-Halfawy, and produced by Media Hub - Saadi and Gohar. The series' events develop within a social and romantic framework.

The eighth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival will feature around 70 films from around the world, combining feature films, documentaries, and short films. Egyptian cinema is prominent in this year's edition with the screening of five films in the festival's various competitions, in addition to the opening film "Happy Birthday." The festival will also host a special screening of "The Gentlemen of Honor" in the presence of its makers and stars before its public release in cinemas next Wednesday, October 22.

In this context, El Gouna Film Festival announced the formation of the jury for its new edition, with star Laila Elwi heading the feature narrative competition jury, alongside Giona Nazzaro, Rashid Masharawi, Kani Kochruti, and Nahuel Pérez Biscayart. French director Nicolas Philibert will head the feature documentary jury, which includes director Sona Karaboghossian, Mohamed Said Ouma, and Hala Galal.

The Short Films Committee is headed by Mahdi Fleifel, and includes Andrea Gatopoulos, Juliette Cano, Souad Bushnak, and Mustafa El Kashef. The Green Star Committee includes Jana Wahba, Mai El Gheity, and Niklas Engström. The FIPRESCI Committee includes Omnia Adel, Pamela Cohen, and Ramachandran Bisharat. The Netpac Award Committee is headed by Anne Demy-Giraud, and includes Jean-Marc Therouin and director Hala Khalil.
