Can Yaman released after taking a drug test sample

Turkish actor Can Yaman was released by order of the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office, after being detained last Friday as part of a police anti-drug security operation that included simultaneous raids on a number of locations in the city.

Can Yaman was detained inside a nightclub in the Ortaköy district during a security operation targeting locations suspected of drug use or trafficking. According to Turkish journalist Birsen Altuntaş, Yaman was released after samples were taken for testing, but no formal charges have been filed against him so far.

Altuntas pointed out that the nightclub where Yaman was arrested is one of the places he is keen to visit when he is in Istanbul, noting that the operation included a second consecutive search inside the place before the decision to arrest was made.

During his detention, Can Yaman's legal team, in coordination with his lawyer, closely monitored his case, with particular attention from his Rome-based production team, especially given his upcoming artistic and media engagements in Spain. It's worth noting that Yaman has been living in Italy for some time, where he continues his acting career and participates in several television dramas.

The star of the Early Bird series is expected to undergo a medical examination and have samples of his blood and hair taken, before being investigated by the Public Prosecution and released pending the results of the examination or left in detention.

Yaman started his career as a lawyer, but soon turned to television acting, and stood out in several works, including "Who Among Us Hasn't Loved" and "The Wrong Man".

Yaman also participated in fashion shows and commercials with several companies, and appeared as an actor in a music video.

Several anti-drug security campaigns since last October have targeted a large number of celebrities, and have already resulted in proving that a number of media figures, artists and social media celebrities have been using drugs.

Among the most prominent detainees in the drug use case currently is the well-known television presenter "Ella Rumeysa Gebegi," who admitted to using drugs in order to benefit from a reduced sentence.

Recent test results also revealed traces of drugs in samples from Turkish actresses Ezgi Eyüboğlu (38) and Melissa Dongil (27), as well as social media star Şeyma Subaşı.

Those who test positive for drugs face charges related to drug purchase and use, and a prison sentence of two to five years, in addition to additional prison sentences if the offense occurs near open public places, educational and sports facilities, hospitals, schools, and places of worship.

The Public Prosecutor may also postpone filing a public lawsuit against a person suspected of drug use, provided that the accused participates in specific recovery programs for one year, which ends with the clearing of his criminal record if he meets the program's conditions.
