Duraid Lahham and Basil Al-Khatib apologize for not attending the Alexandria Festival

Artist Duraid Lahham and director Basil Al-Khatib apologized for not attending the 40th Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries due to the general situation in the region, despite the festival opening with the screening of the film “Two Days,” directed by Al-Khatib and starring Duraid Lahham.

Basil Al-Khatib: Circumstances forced us to apologize Al-Khatib said: “Mr. Duraid and I had hoped to attend the festival, and there was great anticipation for our attendance, but the circumstances we are currently witnessing in Palestine and Lebanon have forced us to apologize for attending out of respect for the feelings of our people and brothers in what they are being subjected to, amid the international community’s disregard for the thousands of victims who have fallen and are falling every day.”

The film "Two Days" also participates in the two official competitions of the festival, the first is for feature films, and the second is for the Arab film, which bears the name of the late Egyptian artist Nour El-Sherif.

The 34th edition also opened with a film by Basil Al Khatib and Duraid Lahham. This is the second time that the Alexandria Film Festival has been opened with a film by director Basil Al-Khatib. The first time was in the 34th session of the festival in 2018, when it was opened with the film “Damascus Aleppo” and won the Best Film Award. The artist Duraid Lahham won the Grand Acting Award, and the director Basil Al-Khatib won the Best Director Award.

The film "Two Days" is produced by the General Cinema Corporation, written by Talid Al-Khatib based on a story by the artist Duraid Lahham, the hero of the film, and co-starring the late Osama Al-Roumani - Rana Shamis - Yahya Al-Bayazi and Hazem Zidane.
