Mona Zaki's film "Flight 404" has been selected to represent Egypt on the longlist for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, with the winners to be announced on March 3, 2025.

"Flight 404" selected as Best International Film The committee responsible for selecting the nominated film, which consists of a group of critics and independent directors, met today, Monday, to announce the selection of director Hani Khalifa’s film by a majority of votes.

The committee pointed out that the selection process was complicated due to the dominance of commercial films in the cinema market, which requires a firm stance from the authorities concerned with cinema to confront this phenomenon that harms the image of the ancient Egyptian cinema.
