TikTok trend causes cucumber crisis in Iceland

A trend on TikTok has caused a real cucumber crisis in Iceland, as stores are suffering from a severe shortage of cucumbers, knowing that this country produces about two million tons annually.

This problem started after a video went viral of a group of influencers preparing a salad recipe consisting of cucumber, sesame oil, garlic, rice vinegar and chili oil.

Nearly 150,000 videos were posted with the hashtag “cucumber salad” or “cucumber trend.”

Press sources said that the trend was due to a Canadian influencer named Logan Moffett, who is known as the “Cucumber Man” and shares videos of recipes containing cucumbers and says the phrase “Sometimes, you just need to eat a whole cucumber.”

This shortage also included other ingredients that make up the salad, as sesame oil began to disappear in a number of stores as well.

Many food trends are spreading on social media that cause controversy, including what happened recently with Dubai Chocolate and previously with pasta with feta cheese.
